A Note from the Past Treasurer
Phil drug me there, Marty and Robie got me to commit, Barney made it happen, Jim kept me there, and Donald kept me going for 10 years … I’m not sure who I am most mad at, or most proud of!!
This really is a TERRIFIC organization – we do more good than anyone even has a clue of! The thanks go to all of you – the dues paying members. We have some very generous members and sponsors that see the good that we are doing and we Thank Them profusely. However, there are some folks that we sometimes take for granted – the board members. Some of these folks give up their personal time, put aside their personal issues to represent the Association, incur personal expenses – all with no comments, gripes, or expectations of acknowledgement. That being said, I am EXTREMELY HONORED of the buckle that was presented to me during the Reunion! I am proud to say that the buckle did not cost the Association anything. Alan Jeffrey with Broken Arrow Silver graciously donated the buckle (along with the Auction Buckles) when he heard that I was going off the board – Thank You again Alan. This buckle was shipped separately to a different address and I was totally unaware that this was going to be done.
I realize that all board members (well most), and some members that have never served “officially” on the board, have sacrificed something – time, effort, money – that is never calculated or acknowledged and I would like to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU! Over the last ten years, I’ve worked with some dedicated individuals including three Presidents and all kinds of board members. I’d like to say a special Thanks to a few: Barney, Marty, Jim, Liz, Ryon, Brent, Rush, Les, Wiley, Drew, Henry, Red and Wes. I also offer my appreciation and words of encouragement to the current (and future) boards!! Thanks again to everyone for allowing me to serve as your Treasurer!
Sincerely,
Bill McAnally

Lucas Doyle "Luke" Markham
Lucas "Luke" Doyle Markham was born on August 12, 1977, in Pecos, Texas, to Eddy Markham and Carol King-Markham. He went to be with our Lord and Savior on July 17, 2011. Luke attended school in Pecos, Texas, and graduated from Pecos High School in 1995. He continued his education and attended Sul Ross University in Alpine, Texas, where he graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor's degree in Biology. After graduation, he moved to Midland, Texas, where he began employment with ARCADIS Geraghty & Miller. He later worked for Conestoga-Rovers and Associates, where he advanced to Senior Project Manager. At the time of his passing, Luke worked for Danny McNeese, of McNeese Field Services, Inc. Luke was a devoted father, son, brother, and friend. He loved his daughters, Cheyenne and Hailey, dearly and really enjoyed spending time with them. Luke will be greatly missed by his family and many friends. Luke was always fun loving and enjoyed making others laugh. He was an athlete and sports enthusiast, having played football and participated in bull riding events during his high school years. He teamed up with friends and participated in the Wild Mare Race and Wild Cow-Milking events in the West of the Pecos Rodeo. He and his teammates won the Wild Cow-Milking event in 2001. He loved the Dallas Cowboys, fantasy football, and Nascar racing. Luke began playing the guitar in high school and had a special talent for writing music. After moving to Midland, Luke further developed his love for music and expressed himself through song writing. Luke shared musical interests with three of his friends and together they formed the "Clay Henry Band" in 2001, with Luke serving as rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist. The band entertained at several places and events in the local area. Luke is survived by his daughters, Cheyenne Markham and Hailey Grandi, of Midland, Texas; his mother, Carol King-Markham, of Pecos, Texas; his father, Eddy Markham, and wife, Linda, of Eden, Texas; his sister, Mechelle Testa, and husband, Danny, of The Colony, Texas; two half-sisters, Keely Burtscher and Mariann Imber and husband, Michael, of San Antonio, Texas; and his beloved girlfriend, Ashley Hughes, of Lamesa, Texas. Services to honor Luke and celebrate his life will be held in Midland at Nalley-Pickle & Welch Chapel on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home & Crematory of Midland.

From Sally Oglesby-Harris
SR ANRS & Rodeo Exes:
Cannot quite describe the empty hole I feel in my spirit after receiving the
news that TBird had lost his fight with that damn demon, cancer. My
mind began to flash back on all the wonderful and crazy times in the late
‘70s in the PINE. You cry and then begin to laugh all in the same breath!
What kind of person makes that deep of an impression on someone that 30
years go by & when you see them it is as if time has stood still?! TBird!
I’m not alone in my memories and some folks have closer ones than I, but
they all add up to a great life that was cut way too short.
It was only a couple of months ago that Brad Carter called to tell us that
TBird was sick & had to have surgery. The next thing we knew it’s a little
scary because they found some cancer cells running loose. With a smile on
his face, as always, Bird said, “Oh, I’ll go get ‘em to take a look and
we’ll see what I gotta do to fix this.” Over the next few weeks he did
get a second opinion and the news wasn’t what any of us wanted or expected
to hear. He kept a positive attitude and continued to do what others
wanted him to and kept the peace. God gave him amazing grace and the
strength to take this on with a gentle man’s spirit. Lots of buds visited
and prayers were plenty. The last time I saw him on May 21st he still
had that twinkle in those blue eyes. We laughed at the fact that there were
no “cute” little nurses in the ICU, but guessed they hadn’t heard “he” was
there! He was a brave friend and one that I, along with many, will miss so
very much. I have no doubt that he and Luther are singing and stirring
up a little something with the Big GUY. I’ll see him again someday.
Sterling & I would like to make a memorial donation to the ANRS & Rodeo Exes
Association in Terry “TBird” Arnold’s name. He loved the Reunion so
much and he was a faithful participant in all the activities. He loved
Sul Ross and was proud of having gone to school in such a wonderful place.
The PINE was his second home and probably his first love. Now SHE can
love him back.
Thanks for keeping the “spirit” alive for ALL of us!
Most Respectfully,
Sally “Bailey” Oglesby Harris
SR ‘79
